Anglian Water and Cambridge Water are consulting on proposals for the new Fens Reservoir which will provide additional water supply to the East of England including Greater Cambridge which is supplied by Cambridge Water.
The Reservoir itself will be located between Charteris, Doddington, Wimblington and Manea, Fenland. South Cambridgeshire District Council has been advised that it is one of the host authorities for the DCO process, as pipes and associated infrastructure connecting to the new reservoir will be located within the district, including a connection point located south of Madingley.
Anglian Water is continuing its pre-application engagement on the proposed Fens Reservoir, which will provide additional water supply to the East of England. The reservoir is planned to be located between Chatteris, Doddington, Wimblington, and Manea in Fenland, with pipelines connecting it to South Cambridgeshire.
Phase 2 consultation ran for 12 weeks over the summer of 2024. Following feedback from this consultation, Anglian Water has decided to undertake an additional round of non-statutory consultation later this year, ahead of statutory consultation next year.
The application is expected to be submitted in 2026.
