Christmas Market celebrates the businesses of South Cambridgeshire
The start of the festive season was enjoyed by 1,000 visitors at the third annual South Cambridgeshire Indoor Christmas Market - despite it being a wet and breezy day. Held on Saturday 7 December at Cambourne Village College, the joyous event welcomed around 100 local businesses in the gymnasium, performance hall and sports hall – the largest market run by the District Council to date.
The Christmas Market celebrated South Cambridgeshire’s small independent businesses allowing residents to shop locally for Christmas gifts, food and handmade crafts.
A fantastic variety of stalls included handcrafted soaps, candles, knitwear, handbags and jewellery. Talented design work on Christmas cards, prints, and fabrics. Beautifully arranged wreaths and bouquets, and delicious sweet treats by many brilliant bakers. Plus, free arts and crafts activities kept the children entertained.
Cllr Peter McDonald, Lead Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “Our annual Christmas Market is a wonderful event to showcase some of the brilliant tradespeople we have in South Cambridgeshire, supporting them by giving the opportunity to grow their businesses by having a stall for free. It was great to see the community come together, shop locally, and get in the festive spirit!”
